After a long time, we are back with some development news. You will learn what we are currently doing, what we are working on, what we have been working on, and why the pace of program development is slower.
First, we will talk about what is currently in intensive preparation and what you can expect in the coming weeks. This is a major map update that will not only fix many errors in the map, but also add missing parts of the landscape (empty sections around lines 5 and 30, and a completely rebuilt Muzeum turning loop with the existing layout preserved).
We have also completed several new tram models, which we will discuss in the coming days and which we are happy to present to you. These are not strictly new types, but various conversions or versions of existing models. For example, the Tatra K2 or T3R.PLF trams, nicknamed Wana. The T6 tram has also undergone a complete redesign, receiving a completely new model, and a Prague version will also be added. We owe these models to our 3D graphic designer Kiubko.
As for the programming part of the game's development, the pace has indeed been slower in recent months. There are at least two reasons for this: a lot of work and commitments in my private and professional life, and then the effort to learn the new engine. Yes, I have been intensively learning to work with the Godot Engine in recent months. And it is extremely time-consuming. Not that Simt 2 is being created in it right away (we'll have to wait for that), but I can already say that what is now being solved in a lengthy and laborious way in Simt is, for example, already comprehensively solved in the aforementioned Godot, and the developer has easy access to everything (for example, in terms of the physical or graphic aspects of development). In short, time is moving forward very quickly, and the current Simt engine is simply no longer sufficient for our needs or those of our players, and it is necessary to look for other opportunities. This was the cause of the current slowdown in development. However, Simt has not been forgotten in any way, development has not been suspended or terminated, and we still have big plans and look forward to further news. Another edition of Digisimt is in the works, which will be accompanied by special festival lines, but we will talk about that in more detail in September.
Thank you all for your positive support in the comments and motivation for further work :)
